ShawHankins is one of the leading employee benefit firms in the Southeast with over 400 clients in the region.
ShawHankins, LLC, formerly the Shaw Agency, was established in Cartersville, Georgia in 1963 by James H. Shaw, Jr.
Mr. Shaw joined Georgia International Life, a regional life insurance company, and brought his three sons into the business. For many years the Shaw Agency led Georgia International's sales force in individual life insurance sales.
In 1998, one of the three sons, Randy Shaw, and another broker with the firm, Scott Hankins, purchased the Shaw Agency from Mr. Shaw and created ShawHankins. ShawHankins specializes in group health and welfare plans such as medical, dental, life, disability income and vision insurance.
In the past 12 years, ShawHankins has grown to be one of the largest privately-held employee benefits firms in Georgia with locations in Cartersville, Rome, Cumming and Albany. Two of the primary target markets for ShawHankins are public entities such as city and county governments and educational institutions such as school systems, private schools and colleges.
In 2006, ShawHankins joined NFP Benefits Partners, a subsidiary of National Financial Partners Corp. (NYSE: NFP).

In 2010, Scott Hankins purchased the balance of the firm and became the sole owner of ShawHankins, LLC.
